The next step

It's amazing what taking a few months break can do.

The last near-half year has been a whirlwind of emotions and feelings that culminated in many life decisions - one which comes down to the flight I'll be heading onto in 5 hours.

To keep this first post succinct, I've made leaps and bounds from where I was coming out of my honours year of doing research: I've found my life goal, I've found a direction that I can head to, and I've found the opportunities that'll help me get there.

It's a huge jump from Science to go into the field of programming; but it's not entirely unprecedented. I've spent a large amount of my time in front of a computer screen - it's what I enjoy, and it's my hobby. It's done more for me than I'd have imagined, in hindsight. Life is a wonderful journey, I've learned, but that's only because of the people who've made it that way. Not everyone is going to agree - and truthfully, it's only because of the opportunities I've been given and born with - but I want to get into a position that is capable of improving the lives of other people.

And this is the next step. A long trip after I make this post, I will begin the next chapter.
